GWANGJU GREEN CAR

The global automobile market is undergoing a rapid transition of the paradigm into enhancement of efficiency, environment-friendliness and reduction in weight for the entire vehicle for the purposes of improved user convenience and to cope with the global warming and environmental regulations of advanced countries. Accordingly, the future growth value of the green car sector is being increasingly highlighted, thereby drawing the attention of the entire world onto the relevant industries. Various countries around the world are putting in their respective utmost efforts for sustainable economic growth by firming up the fundamental competencies of their respective economy through the automobile industry.

Korea is also implementing a diverse range of policies and unsparingly providing supports for the activation of the manufacturing industry through the automobile industry. In particular, the automobile industry in Gwangju is a core focus industry as it is the foundation of the national and local manufacturing sector. Accordingly, the Gwangju Green Car Promotional Center, since its establishment in 2011, through the investment by Gwangju City government with the goal of activating the local economy through the cultivation of the automobile industry in Gwangju, has been focusing all of our capabilities for further advancement of technologies and cultivation of industries related to the local automobile industry. For this purpose, the Promotional Center is pursuing the [project for the cultivation of core automobile components industry for clean diesel vehicles] while, at the same time, developing the ‘blue ocean’ for the future automobile growth industry throughout all the areas of environment-friendly automobile including the planning of new projects for the securing of a new growth engine source.

Currently, we are establishing fundamental infrastructure for the growth of Gwangju City as the core base of environment-friendly automobiles by establishing relevant research equipment and facilities through integration and organic cooperation of innovation resources by encompassing industries, academia, research institutes and government institutions in the area of automobiles in Gwangju including the Korea Automotive Technology Institute and Korea Institute of Industrial Technology. Meanwhile, the Promotional Center is making progress as a central institution for the support of consumer-oriented cultivation of industry in order to concentrate on the cultivation of the local automobile components industry through continuously pursuing the provision of relevant industrial information, establishment of various integrated support and provision of a wide range of support for companies. We seek your continued advice and encouragement for the activities of our Promotional Center and shall put our utmost efforts to transform Gwangju as one of the most renowned cities in manufacturing automobiles.
